Description
A substantial vintage ceramic elephant plant stand, richly decorated in soft ivory, blue and warm brown glazes with pierced panels, relief ornament and an elaborate saddle-style top.
At 56 cm (22″) long and weighing over 10 kg, this is a proper piece of accent furniture rather than a small decorative elephant. The flat ceramic platform makes it ideal as a plant stand, garden stool or unusual side table, while the highly detailed elephant form gives it wonderful presence as a decorative object in its own right.
The combination of Asian-inspired ornament, muted glaze colours and elaborate detailing works particularly well with eclectic, Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency and collected interiors.
