Description
This hand-blown green art glass vase is a beautiful example of the work produced at Stockholms Glasbruk under the creative direction of Ture Berglund. With its rich, vibrant green glass, encased bubble form, and a carefully worked snake twist along the neck, it is a piece that rewards a long, slow look — the kind of object that earns its place on a shelf and keeps it for decades.
Design & Craftsmanship
The vase is distinguished by two defining design details: an encased bubble form that gives the body a sense of depth and movement, and a glass snake twist on the neck that speaks to Berglund’s inventive approach to the medium. Hand-blown glass of this character is never entirely predictable — each piece carries the mark of the maker’s hand, and that is precisely what gives it presence.
About Stockholms Glasbruk
Stockholms Glasbruk was founded in 1933, beginning in a basement room at Södermalmstorg in Slussen. In 1936 it was rebuilt at Skansen, drawing inspiration from 18th-century glassworks drawings from Johannisholm. Ture Berglund and his wife Lily ran the glassworks from 1933 to 1980. The tradition continued through the family — their daughter Marianne and her husband Göran Hammar carried the work forward, and later their granddaughter Karin Hammar took over the legacy.
