This 1960s ceramic vase by Lars Thorén for Rörstrand is a quiet, characterful piece from the golden era of Swedish mid-century design. Its organic rectangular bottle form with a narrow neck carries a hand-painted wildflower motif — blooms rendered in blue, yellow, green, and red against a clean soft white glaze. The design has the kind of unhurried quality that comes from being made by hand: each vase was individually decorated, giving every piece its own small variations.

Rörstrand has been producing ceramics in Sweden since the eighteenth century, and by the 1960s it had become one of the most respected names in Scandinavian studio ceramics. Lars Thorén’s wildflower series reflects the era’s affection for nature motifs and handcrafted decoration — unpretentious, warm, and entirely at home in a contemporary interior as much as a vintage one.
