There is something quietly theatrical about this vintage Italian ceramic tureen by Forria — the kind of piece that earns its place on a table or shelf without asking for attention. Hand made and marked Hand Made Forria, Italy, it belongs to a tradition of decorative Italian ceramics that valued romantic detail, fine modelling, and a confident sense of occasion.

About the Piece

The tureen is generously proportioned and richly ornamented. Raised pink basketweave panels wrap the body, framed by elegantly scrolled handles and matching feet. The lid is the centrepiece: two finely modelled white doves perch together at the top, lending the piece a gentle, romantic quality that feels entirely at home in a Rococo-inspired aesthetic. The soft colouring keeps it light and inviting rather than heavy or overwrought.

It works beautifully as a centrepiece bowl, a decorative display vessel, or an unusual lidded storage piece. It brings warmth to a dining table, a sideboard, or a display shelf — and holds its own whether placed alone or as part of a curated arrangement.

It is vintage in the truest sense: made to be admired, and still delivering on that promise decades later.
