This Bing & Grøndahl porcelain vase is a quietly beautiful example of mid-20th century Danish decorative craft. Hand-painted in the workshop’s classic underglaze technique, it carries flowing white flowers and leaves against a softly shaded blue background — a composition that feels both considered and timeless. It is the kind of piece that has lived gracefully in a cabinet or on a windowsill for decades and still holds its presence in a room today.

Design & History

Bing & Grøndahl, founded in Copenhagen, built their reputation on refined underglaze painting — a technique that permanently fuses colour into the porcelain beneath the glaze, ensuring the decoration never fades or wears. This vase, catalogued as model 678, is a faithful expression of that tradition: restrained, precise, and entirely hand-worked. The blue and white palette has endured for good reason — it brings warmth and stillness in equal measure, complementing both period interiors and more contemporary spaces.
