Description
Wooden wine bottle case, hand-carved and painted with a traditional fox hunting scene. The front and back panels each depict a mounted huntsman accompanied by hounds in pursuit, rendered in a naïve, folk-art style with strong period character.
Made from solid wood and retaining its original internal bottle cradle, this case was clearly intended for practical use while reflecting the sporting traditions of the time. The surface shows honest wear and patina, with original paint surviving across the carved figures. Brass-tone hinges, handle, and clasp complete the piece and remain fully functional.
An evocative example of mid-20th-century sporting folk art, combining utility with decorative presence.
