Description
A finely carved pair of small wooden masks inspired by traditional Korean Hahoe Tal masks, known for their use in masked dance performances (Talchum). The expressive facial features and contrasting forms reflect the symbolic storytelling central to this long-standing Korean folk tradition.
Each mask is individually hand-carved, with carefully modelled brows, noses, and cheeks, and finished in warm natural wood tones with painted accents in red and black. One mask features a closed-mouth expression, while the other has an open mouth, creating visual contrast and balance when displayed together.
Due to their compact size, these are best understood as decorative folk art pieces, rather than full-size performance masks. They are ideal for wall display, shadow boxes, or curated collections focused on global or ethnographic art.
