Description
A beautifully balanced mid-century Danish studio pottery teapot by Henrik Ditlev Larsen, where earthy texture meets rich Scandinavian colour. This piece carries the quiet confidence of authentic Danish craftsmanship, ready to bring warmth and character to your home.
Wheel thrown in chamotte clay, the teapot reveals the maker’s hand in every detail. An unglazed chocolate brown body shows visible horizontal throwing lines, while a deep glossy red drip glaze flows across the shoulder and lid. The tactile surface and sculptural silhouette reflect the expressive Danish studio pottery movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
Henrik Ditlev Larsen worked as a wheel thrower at Lars Syberg Pottery during its influential post-war years, alongside the young Bjørn Wiinblad. He later established his own pottery in Lyngby in 1956 and continued working within Denmark’s celebrated ceramic tradition. Stamped to the base and beautifully proportioned, this piece works equally well as functional pottery or as a sculptural decorative object.
