About Us
I started buying and selling to fund my hobby over 30 years ago. But it’s not just the treasure hunting, I love restoring as well. There’s something special about giving life back into something that looks old and tired.
When we started out we where selling mainly antique toys and bears. It was a great business and we made many new friends all over the world. Finding our stock and selling out of the UK was pretty easy. There was always places to hunt for our furry friends and the postage costs were very competitive. Then in our madness we decided to move to Sweden. Yes Sweden!
It wasn’t that crazy as my husband is Swedish but for a number of years I was like a fish out of water. Everything was different including the chance to find bears. Our bear business ground to a halt and life took over.
My parents were great antique lovers and from an early age I spent hours, with my parents site seeing the antique markets, antique fairs and boot fairs. So I guess it’s in my blood. That’s the problem… it felt like I’d lost something.
Then I realized that Sweden has some of the best glass in the world. They have a huge passion for 60s and 70s design and yes they have the “Loppis”. It’s like a yard sale sometimes at homes and also in stores. The charity shops are also great.
So then I started buying and selling again but with more diversity and all retro. Today I can hardly move around my house without tripping over boxes of my new treasures. I also looked around the different selling platforms and decided to finally give Etsy a try. That was 6 month ago. I understood that it would take time to get items listed into the store and even more time before we would make a sale. But in less than two weeks we have made our first sale. Thank you to our new friend in Australia. The second to USA came a few days later. The visits kept coming and the sales took off.
I plan on keeping my Etsy Store but in addition we have now opened our own store where we hope to have more interaction with our customers.
The passion for retro continues here!
Welcome to the new Allthingsretrostore!
